What is the Hunger Data Lab?
The Hunger Data Lab is an open access location to house ready-to-use data and reports that can serve organizations and individuals in the fight to end hunger. The data are compiled and maintained by the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty at Baylor University. The Hunger Data Lab is made possible by support from the Walmart Foundation. The intent of the Hunger Data Lab is to bring easy-to-use data and reports to your fingertips, so that you can make data-driven decisions and do your own research to contribute to the fight to end hunger. Our desire is that this is a place for all of us to work together. For this reason, if you have suggestions or a way you would like to contribute to this page, please contribute.
How can I get connected?
There are exciting efforts going on all across the state of Texas as well as the country to end hunger. As a research organization, the Baylor Collaborative provides support for various agencies to carry out this good work. Our observations of what has worked and what has not, also suggest that we are stronger together. We have documented ways that you can work towards collaboration in your own community through our Toolkit. You can also find Baylor Collaborative staff all across the state of Texas. If you are doing innovative work in the field of food insecurity, or if you have a desire to learn from others, we encourage you to join us!
What about the data?
The Hunger Data Lab strives to present informative and correct data. For administrative data that is gathered through TDA, USDA, or SNAP reporting agencies, you will find the date we downloaded the data for comparison sake. We have not manipulated the data in any way accept to delete repeat entries and correct incorrect names or spell out abbreviated agencies. Reports using administrative data as well as data that we collect ourselves include an about section or methods section describing individual methods used. Please refer to each individual report for additional information on methods as well as partners and funders that collaborated on the reports.
Our desire is to create a space where we can all learn from one another. If you have data or reports that would be helpful for others who are fighting to end hunger, please visit the contribute page.
