Emily Ortiz
Social Work Intern
Emily is a Masters of Social Work intern at the Baylor Collaborative. Her role involves conducting a country landscape analysis of food systems in her home country Guatemala. She also supports the Baylor Collaborative on the local partnership with World Food Program Guatemala, specifically in a program evaluation of an integrated Resilience Program to improve Nutritional Outcomes in a western region in Guatemala.
She studied psychology in her undergrad at the University of San Carlos Guatemala and is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work degree at Baylor with a specialization in Community Practice.
Emily appreciates the Baylor Collaborative as she shares her experience of the local context, and the openness to engage on global approaches and is looking forward to integrate different parts of the food systems in Guatemala in a collaborative effort to find solutions that improve nutrition safety in her country which has one of the highest stunting rates.
