Kris Kaiser Olson
Board Chairperson
Kris Kaiser Olson has been involved in the nonprofit sector, primarily as an advocate for children and families, for over forty years. A graduate of Waco public schools, Kris earned a B. S. in Education, Communication Disorders from Baylor University. She retired in 2008 as the Executive Director of Parents for Public Schools of Waco, Texas, which she helped charter in 1993. For five years, she served on the national staff of Parents for Public Schools as the Director of Communications and advised PPS chapters in urban school districts.
Her work spans board leadership and service with such organizations as Texans Care for Children, Waco Foundation, Women United for United Way of Waco-McLennan County, Baylor’s Garland School of Social Work Board of Advocates, the Center for Learning and Development, Today’s Action Tomorrow’s Leaders, Brazos Valley Public Broadcasting Foundation, multiple PTAs, the McLennan Community College Foundation, the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children, McLennan County Youth Collaboration-Communities In Schools, Waco Independent School District Board of Trustees, the Waco Symphony Association and the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce.
Kris is married to Charles Olson, a Waco attorney. They have two adult daughters and two grandchildren. She is an active member at First Presbyterian Church in Waco.
