Texas Hunger Initiative Executive Director Speaking at Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s Leadership Conference

WACO, Texas (September 10, 2018) – Jeremy Everett, executive director of Baylor University’s Texas Hunger Initiative, will be a featured panelist at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s (CHCI) 2018 Leadership Conference. More than 1,000 individuals will gather on September 11-12, 2018, for this two-day event. This year’s theme is, “Here to Lead: Architects of Our Destiny,” and participants will focus on transformative leadership to address challenges affecting the Latino community and the nation. Everett will specifically be speaking on a panel for a session titled, "Integrated Food Security: Emerging Trends and Best Practices."

“With 15 million food-insecure households in the U.S., food insecurity is one of the most pressing issues facing our country,” Everett said. “If we want to see this number go down, we’re going to have to work together to find solutions. I’m excited that the CHCI Leadership conference is bringing so many great minds together to do just that, work together to find solutions.”

CHCI’s Leadership Conference brings together leaders from a variety of sectors including members of Congress and other elected officials, corporate executives, community activists, educators, celebrities, media personalities, and nonprofit leaders. Other topics that will be addressed during the conference include racial equity, education, and prescription drug overdose.
