Join the Fight Against Hunger and Poverty with AmeriCorps VISTA

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program committed to ending poverty by building sustainable capacity in local communities. Authorized by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), VISTA members serve full-time for one year at nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and educational institutions.

A VISTA is not just a volunteer—they are a catalyst for change. Our program focuses on finding hunger solutions through a community-based model, where VISTA members tailor strategies to meet the unique needs of the communities they serve. Rather than providing direct services, VISTAs focus on capacity building with the goal of strengthening organizations by expanding their reach, improving systems, and mobilizing resources to create lasting impact.

Partner with the Baylor Collaborative

With over a decade of experience managing VISTA placements, the Baylor Collaborative is a trusted intermediary in Texas and beyond. We specialize in supporting organizations that address food insecurity and poverty.

Our team provides comprehensive support—from grant administration and technical assistance to training and oversight—ensuring that host sites and VISTA members are equipped for success. Through our Cost-Share Partnership model, organizations can quickly and affordably launch impactful anti-poverty initiatives with reduced overhead and complexity.

Whether you're a nonprofit ready to host a VISTA member or an individual passionate about making a difference, the Baylor Collaborative is your partner in building stronger, more resilient communities.

Who Can be a VISTA?

The VISTA program is ideal for recent college graduates, retirees, and mid-career professionals looking to devote a year of their lives in volunteer service to their communities.
