Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty Honors the Life and Legacy of the late Congresswoman Jackie Walorski

The following is a statement from Jeremy Everett, Executive Director of the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty, on the death of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski:

“The team at Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty and I were saddened this week to hear about the deaths of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski and members of her staff. Congresswoman Walorski leaves behind a long legacy of serving the marginalized and those experiencing poverty and hunger. In addition to founding Impact International, an organization that delivered medical supplies and aid to children in Romania, as Congresswoman, she served on the bi-partisan House Hunger Caucus, where she was instrumental in assisting with the upcoming White House Conference on Hunger, Health, and Nutrition.

Congresswoman Walorski recognized that no one person, organization or party can solve hunger alone. Under her leadership, she sought to ensure fighting hunger remained a bipartisan effort, one of the few issues that representatives of all sides would still rally around. We are thankful for Congresswoman Walorski’s life of service, and we vow to honor her efforts by continuing the fight to ensure that everyone has access to adequate nutrition.

Our condolences go out to her husband Dean, and to the families of Zachery Potts and Emma Thomson, the staff members who lost their lives alongside her.”
