Dr. Elsa Murano

Dr. Elsa Murano is the Director of the Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture and Development at Texas A&M University. In addition to having served as Vice Chancellor and Dean of the College of Agriculture and as President of Texas A&M University, is a food safety expert, having served as Undersecretary for Food Safety at USDA, which is the highest-ranked food safety official in the U.S. government.
She currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) which is part of the CGIAR System of research centers, as U.S. representative in the Council of Advisors for the International Institute for Cooperation in the Americas (IICA), and on the Council of Advisors for the World Food Prize Foundation. Previously she was a presidential appointee to the Board for International Food and Agriculture Development (BIFAD), which advises the USAID Administrator.
