Ways to Get Involved
NEW - Student Food Security Council
The Baylor Collaborative’s Student Food Security Council is a newly formed group beginning fall 2024. The SFSC inserts student voices into the campus conversation of hunger, working to spread awareness and foster a dialogue about food insecurity at Baylor.
Currently, the majority of food waste from dining halls are being composted. While composting efforts are beneficial and a great alternative, our Council wants to ensure no meals go to waste. This semester we are partnering with the Food Recovery Network and Chartwells to address this issue head on.
The Store: On-Campus Food Pantry
Most Baylor students are concerned that their need isn't 'severe enough', or they feel ashamed to be struggling with hunger at a university like Baylor. The Store wants to assure you that you are not alone, that if you're skipping meals, limiting your portions, needing to choose unhealthy options to feel full, or are needing to choose between paying rent, buying textbooks, paying an emergency bill, or if you are experiencing hunger for any reason, then The Store exists for you.
Baylor Community Garden
The Baylor Community Garden (BCG), located at the corner of 9th and James, is a blossoming living laboratory for holistic environmental discovery, creativity, and community health. Every semester the BCG grows hundreds of pounds of produce, donating it to The Store in a continued effort to battle campus food insecurity.
Sustainability Student Advisory Board
The Sustainability Student Advisory Board strives to give Baylor students an opportunity to be a part of the sustainability efforts at Baylor University by offering advice and suggestions for improvement from a current student's perspective and to encourage respect and ownership for the environment and world's resources through emphasizing shared responsibility for being environmentally conscious students at Baylor University.
