Ruben Sanchez, Jr serves as Associate Pastor for Harvest Christian Center in El Paso, where his main area of responsibility is outreach to the surrounding community. He has served the El Paso Community in the social service field for the last 20 years in the areas of public housing, legal guardianship, and hunger relief. Ruben played a vital role in the region, raising awareness of food insecurity in Far West Texas as the Founding Executive Director of El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank. He then transitioned to a role with the Baylor Collaborative, where he further assisted in program development and implementation of the Community Partner Program, Child Nutrition Programs, and Coalition Building. The Baylor Collaborative gave him the opportunity to continue to raise awareness of food insecurity in West Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Juarez, Mexico, providing support and coordinating resources in these communities to implement hunger relief programs and coalitions.
Ruben’s early career consisted of seven years in the for-profit sector of Retail Management, monitoring the selling performance of store fronts and departments ranging from $600,000 to $5,000,000 in annual sales and the day-to-day operational activities the various stores required.
Ruben is a life-long resident of El Paso and a graduate of Park University with a degree in Social Psychology. He recently completed 84 hours in ministerial studies through Global University to receive his Ordination Level Credentials. He is the proud father of Sarah, his only daughter, and husband to Crystal, his wife of 26 years.
